The Glenkens Society Flower Show (believed to be the oldest Flower Show in the country) was held in Dalry Town Hall on Saturday 25th August.
Every class in the show was entered and at over 750 entries was a record entry.
As well as the number of exhibits, the quality of entries was outstanding and this was one of the best shows of recent years. The Hall was a riot of colour.
Local Councillor, George Prentice who stated that he was indeed very impressed with exhibits, which were outstanding for such a small community, opened the Show and was presented with a Pot Plant by Children's Section winner Olivia Wise.

In the Vegetable Section the best exhibit was a cauliflower.
In the Pot Plants the cup was won with a Begonia.
The cut flowers was won with a vase of flowers taken from a Shrub (a vase of Hydrangea)
The best exhibit in the Decorative Classes was an entry entitled "Name that tune".
In the Handicraft section the best exhibit was a Paining of Belted Galloways
The best Photograph was a waterside scene taken at
Loch Awe.
In the Produce Section the best exhibit was an apple tart.
and in the Children's Section the best exhibit was a homemade poster advertising next year's flower show.
The Farmers Market which started in February 2007 has proven to be such a success, it will now take place monthly on the second Saturday of each month until further notice
This is advertised on the new poster boards as well as in many local shops around the region.Look out for the posters
