Traditionally one of the most important community resources in rural areas, village halls are a focal point for community and environmental activities. Dalry Town Hall is the focal point in the parish of Dalry.
The Town Hall is managed by a Committee of elected Dalry residents who volunteer their time and effort for free.
This web site is devoted to St John's Town of Dalry and the Town Hall, what we can do for you and how you can make use the hall for all your events and activities. It is in the process of being expanded so call back often.
The Events Diary page lets you see at a glance what has been arranged for the future.
It was built with superb acaustics, probably the best in SW Scotland, for musical events which have traditionally been held here and will continue to be held here.
The hall is in the process of being upgraded and refurbished, starting with the windows in the back rooms, these have been completed as has the painting and refurbishment of the back rooms and upgrading of the toilet facilities. The south facing windows in the main hall have also been completely renewed, the north facing windows will be done in November 2007.
Many other projects such as heating and decore, seating etc. are in the pipline, some of which will happen in 2007, the rest in 2008.
This needs a lot of extra money but Dalry is raising the funds with very little outside help, this consists mainly of matched funding from D&G Council and Scottish Enterprise.
The Farmers Market, which started in February 2007 is held monthly on the second Saturday of every month and is extremely successful with an attendance of 160 - 230 people - not counting the children - every month which, for an area such as The Glenkens is wonderful.
Concerts are held several times a year with the music club to be re-started soon. The last one was the Bernie Marsden Concert which was so sucessful, we are going to repeat it or something similar this year.
The hall is available for hire for almost any event imaginable including weddings, birthday parties, calieghs and concerts, in fact you name it, it can be done.
The new staging, see the Stage & Seating Layouts page, can be adapted to any configuration you can think of and, being portable, can be used in other venues too.
The Farmers Market which started in February 2007 has proven to be such a success, it will now take place monthly on the second Saturday of each month until further notice
This is advertised on the new poster boards as well as in many local shops around the region.Look out for the posters
